Little 'Ole Me
"Oh hey!" I'm Danielle, Southern California Native, but now that I think about it, I haven't lived there for (gulp) about 19 years. I still feel like the west coast is the best coast, and I love the beach - but that LA traffic; that LA traffic...I.just.can't anymore. In case you cared to keep track, I've also lived in Seattle, WA (rain and gloom capital of the world), FresNO, CA (otherwise known as the "NO"), Indianapolis, IN (home of the Indy 500 and also known as NAP town) all before making my way to the Denver area. You can just call me the "Relocation specialist". And seriously, if you need tips on things like buying a house without seeing it, moving cross country with kids, moving cross country with a dog, driving cross country with a kid + a dog; always being the new girl in town, then I'm the girl that can give you lots of advice!
I love so many things about photography including the never ending learning curve, the fact that there's always a new gadget to buy, documenting real life for clients, shooting elopements, 2nd shooting weddings with other photographers, but the one thing; the thing that I love the most - using photography to document life with our kids including all our great adventures and the every day stuff. I have their entire lives documented and organized in annual photo books - OK, I may be just a little OCD when it comes to our personal photos! Take a little peek below to see some of my all time fave photos of my peeps (and the fur babies).
Now that we've gotten the initial introduction out of the way, I thought I'd share some other interesting tidbits about myself (some photography related, some not):
-My middle name is Makia, thanks to my parents for the unusual name, and hence the name of my business.
-I'm a reformed hospital administrator (believe it or not)!
-I love to teach and used to teach for Indy Photo Coach and for a national university. In fact, if you have a fancy camera and are still shooting in AUTO, please call me, so I can help you :-)
-I'm a Nikon girl…don't ask me to operate a Canon...it's like a foreign language to me
-I have just ventured into the world of triathlon (swim, bike, run - baby)
-I binge watch HGTV shows like Property Brothers, Flip or Flop, Love it or List it, and Fixer Upper with Chip and Joanna; but please don't ask me to fix anything because the only tools I can really use are a hammer and a screwdriver
-I will usually always have a funny story for you, and you will love the faces and hand motions I make when I tell said stories.
-My e-mails or social media responses will usually entail a "Woot, Woot" when I'm happy for you or you've done something awesome. Now if you've done something "Cray Cray", I will usually say, "What the what?" Unfortunately, my kids may say this to you also. Don't be offended, they're really cute.
-and most importantly, I'm a follower of Jesus!
If you would like to hear one of my funny stories, or hear me say "Woot, Woot" in real life while I'm capturing your family or event, please....
